Welcome to Camp McCormick!

Camp McCormick is nearly 400 acres of pristine wilderness and open prairies stretching along almost two miles of Rock River frontage. You can hike miles of manicured trails while enjoying the plush scenery and ample wildlife. The sites are spread out for privacy. You could visit here all weekend and not see another camper!

Troop camping is an essential part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Spending time outdoors at camp lets Girl Scouts try different things, strengthen new skills, build confidence, and ignite their interest in environmental stewardship. Whether earning badges, working on a Journey, or just having fun, Girl Scout troops are in for a fun time when they go to one of our camps!

A few reminders before you head out on your adventure:

Always confirm your resevation a week before you arrive by calling the ranger.
Make sure to read the facilities agreement.

Print your camp confirmation packet and bring the roster located on the back page.
All facilitated and non-faciliated activities require a site reservation.

The Arrowhead Yurt Unit:

2 yurts with a total capacity of 28. Each yurt sleeps 12.
Leader Tent sleeps 4.
Enclosed shelter features screened windows, wood stove, and picnic tables.

Recreation

All recreation activities must be booked no later than three weeks from desired date. Facilitated activities are open April 15 - October 15 each year. Indoor pool is available from mid-May to mid-September each year, varying based on bookings.

When a reservation is made, a GSNI Facilitator will be notified and hired for your group. Note: facilitated activities may be cancelled due to weather or if staffing is not available. Activities may not be available for booking if other events or bookings are already made for that day.

Air Rifles toggle arrow

Check out the latest offering in target sports from GSNI! Excellence in this activity requires learning positive traits such as patience, determination, focus, attention to detail, and persistence! *Girls must be 10 years or older to participate.

Archery Range toggle arrow

Can you hit the bullseye? Troops can provide their own certified archery instructor or hire a certified facilitator. Seasonally from late April through mid-October.

Crate Stacking toggle arrow

How difficult can climbing milk crates really be? Find out when we challenge you to climb 20+ crates high! Activity is for Junior Girl Scouts through Ambassador Girl Scouts. Troops must hire a certified crate stacking facilitator. Seasonally and weather permitting.

Can you find all the gnomes at Camp McCormick? Go on a Gnome Hunt throughout the camp, and see if you can find all the colorful gnomes!

The special golden gnome roams - that gnome just cannot stay in the same place! Can you find them all?

Gaga Pit

Jump into our sand arena, and play Gaga! Free; seasonally and weather permitting. Please keep shoes on during play.

Can you find all of our hidden geocaches at Camp McCormick? There are five geocaches just waiting for you to find and take a S.W.A.P.! Groups are encouraged to leave a S.W.A.P. if they take one! Don’t forget to make a variety of S.W.A.P.s for other groups to find. GPS units provided by camp; $10 per group.

After a long day at camp, relax in our new Hammock Village! Take in the sounds of camp as you unwind from all the fun!

Sledding

Bring your favorite sled, and take on the sledding hill at camp! Free; weather permitting.

Sling Shots toggle arrow

Slingshots serve as a progression step for target range activities (like archery!) by teaching girls about range rules and commands, as well as helping them to build aim, target skills, and hand-eye coordination! Safety will be emphasized, and bullseyes are encouraged!

Swimming Pool toggle arrow

Troops/Groups can provide their own certified lifeguard or hire a GSNI certified lifeguard. Indoor or outdoor pool is open seasonally from May through October. Subject to change. Please call for availability and details.

Camp McCormick's Maker Space

Unleash your imagination at Camp McCormick’s brand NEW Maker Space! Nestled inside the Welcome Lodge, this hands-on hub invites campers of all ages to tinker, design, and bring their ideas to life. Whether you’re crafting, building, or experimenting with something brand new, the Maker Space is the perfect place to spark creativity and discover new skills. Come ready to dream big, get inspired, and make something amazing!

The Camp McCormick Maker Space can be rented for 2-hour timeblocks. Groups can participate in up to 2 simple activities or 1 complex, 1 simple activity per timeblock. Troops and groups can hire a GSNI Maker Space facilitator or provide their own instructor who can demostrate experience with the equipment.

Fees include:

$25 Rental of space
$10/per person supply fee per activity.
$40 facilitator fee if hiring a GSNI Facilitator.

Note: While groups are welcome to bring project-specific supplies, all groups will be charged the per-person supply fee for use of equipment, reusable supplies, and cleaning supplies.

Let your imagination run wild in our Creative Freeplay class! With a variety of fun materials like cardboard, shrinky dinks, buttons, and drawing supplies, campers can build, design, and experiment however they choose. It’s the perfect space to explore new ideas, try out different crafts, and create something totally unique!
