Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois recognizes volunteers, girls and community partners in a variety of ways. Our members and communities change the world for girls across our council. Because of them, our girls are one step closer to their true potential.
Below you can find the amazing ways GSNI recognizes our members and community partners. Don't forget to nominate an awesome volunteer when Adult Recognition nominations opens up December 1, 2025!
Every day, our volunteers provide girls with the environment they need to pursue the interests, causes, and leadership roles that matter most to them. Girls are learning from them that being scientists, CEOs, and advocates for social change are paths they can take to make a difference in the world. Under their guidance, girls are standing up, standing out, and standing tall in every aspect of their lives.
GSNI's Recognition Committee reviews each and every Adult Recognition Nomination that is submitted in mid-February. If you would like to join the Recognition Committee, email customercare@girlscoutsni.org with the email subject: Recognition Committee.
Those who receive one of our Adult Recognition Awards will be honored at GSNI's Annual Meeting & Recognition Event each year.
The Annual Meeting and Recognition Event is held every April. All voting members are invited to attend to review council bylaws, elect board officers and directors and recognize outstanding Volunteers, Girl Scouts and Community Partners.
GSNI's Board of Directors established the Community Partnership Award as a way to recognize special donors or organizations that have significantly supported GSNI to better serve our Girl Scouts and volunteers. Donors or organizations who receive this award are recognized at GSNI's Annual Meeting each year in April.
As decided by AmeriCorps and effective immediately, the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) program is on a temporary pause.
There is not currently a date for when the program will resume. All orders placed before the program pause went into effect (May 27, 2025, at 5 p.m.) will be processed and shipped as normal. Additional PVSA orders cannot be placed at this time. As a PVSA Certifying Organization, GSNI will provide updated information as it becomes available.
GSNI has the best volunteers, and we believe volunteers deserve recognition for all they do!
We’re excited to encourage participation in the Daily Point of Light Award, which awards a volunteer each weekday throughout the year and was started in the White House in 1990. Learn more and nominate a Daily Point of Light today!
