GSNI Alum Spotlight: Lisa Musante
Years as a Girl Scout: Brownie–Junior
I was lucky to be a Brownie and a Junior when I was younger, and those memories have stayed with me over the years. I always hoped I’d find my way back to Girl Scouts someday—but with a busy work schedule and no kids of my own, time kept passing.
That changed when I found Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois.
What I discovered was a welcoming community of leaders who told me, “We can work around your schedule—come volunteer.” That simple invitation changed everything. In just three years, I went from volunteer to troop co-leader, then to Service Unit Team Member, and National Council Delegate.
Through Girl Scouts, I’ve found something truly meaningful: community, lasting friendships, and the joy of giving back. It’s not always easy—it takes time and effort—but it’s incredibly rewarding. Seeing my troop smile, laugh, support one another, and learn new skills fills me with pride.
Girl Scouts didn’t just shape my childhood—it helped shape who I am today, and it continues to do so. And now, I get to be part of that journey for the next generation.
