We're Podcasting at GSNI!

News

By Jill Helser, GSNI Virtual Programming Specialist

Our first episode of the GSNI Podcast, "The Friendship Circle", has launched! Be sure to take a moment and listen in as we try our hand at this popular new media.

Growing out of Appreciative Inquiry's Communications and Brand Awareness Action Team, the podcast soft launched on February 1, 2022. This first episode features an interview with GSNI CEO Fiona Cummings. Fiona shares her memories of Girl Guides in the United Kingdom, meeting a few of the “royals", and describes her path to becoming GSNI's CEO. We also hear from other voices around the council, like kids who attended a holiday event in Stockton, Illinois, and interview one of our recruiters, John Jones. The show is co-hosted by GSNI Girl Scout Alum, Emily Lenore, and GSNI Virtual Programming Specialist, Jill Helser.

Emily brings experience and know-how to the production as she already hosts and produces her podcast for the Odell Public Library, Between The Stacks. In addition, Emily lends her hand in production assistance, field reporting, and working with the Older Girl Scout Action Team to develop a new group of "field reporters," with members throughout the council at the Cadette and Senior levels.

It's exciting to bring this new platform to the organization to showcase all the fantastic things throughout the council!

New episodes premiere on the first Monday of each month, working toward bi-weekly episodes as the project grows. The next episode launches on April 4 and will feature Charlie Qualls, GSNI’s Chief Property and Program Officer, sharing stories of the development of camp programs and, specifically, his years at Camp Dean. We will be adding important council announcements to our new episodes and other fun features!

We invite our friends to connect with us and share their voices by dropping an audio file or email to: Podcast@girlscoutsni.org or visit our Anchor site at anchor. fm/gsnifriendshipcircle and select the "Message" button to leave us an audio message.

You can listen on Spotify or directly through the Anchor webpage. In addition, we will soon be added to Apple Podcast and other popular podcasting platforms. So, be sure to listen in and be a part of The Friendship Circle!
