The Girl Scout Gold Award, Silver Award, and Bronze Award prove Girl Scouts have what it takes to build a better today—and tomorrow. Working to earn a Girl Scout highest award is a leadership opportunity for our youth to practice and develop skills that will benefit them now and in their future! As the school year comes to an end and some troops prepare for a summer break, questions come up about highest award deadlines.
The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest award earned by a Girl Scout Junior (grades 4–5). The deadline to complete a Bronze Award Final Report is September 30 of the year in which the Girl Scout graduates fifth grade. The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award earned by a Girl Scout Cadette (grades 6–8). The deadline to complete a Silver Award Final Report is September 30 of the year in which the Girl Scout graduates eighth grade.
The highest award a Girl Scout can earn is the Girl Scout Gold Award. Girl Scouts in grades 9–12 have four years to complete a Gold Award project. However, the advice most shared from those who have earned their Gold Award is, “Stick to a timeline and don’t wait until the last minute!” Girl Scout Ambassadors in their senior year of high school must submit project proposals by June 1 of the year they graduate to be eligible to earn the Gold Award. Likewise, Girl Scout Ambassadors in their senior year of high school must complete their final report by September 30 of the year they graduate. Completing a project means submitting a final report through GoGold online and having GSNI’s Gold Award Committee review it.
