GSNI Completes Latinas Taking the Lead Program

News

On January 29, 2022, GSNI celebrated the completion of our first Latinas Taking the Lead program! With generous support from the Aurora Women’s Empowerment Foundation, this Spanish-language leadership development program worked with adult Latinas in Aurora who might not otherwise have engaged with Girl Scouts.

Latinas Taking the Lead sessions were held twice a month on Saturdays from November 2021–January 2022, with local experts providing interactive presentations and programming on topics such as navigating the education system, effective communication, healthy habits, financial literacy, community resources, and career and professional development. All participants were recognized in a celebration of leadership during the final session with remarks and a presentation of certificates from GSNI’s CEO, Fiona Cummings.

“We were thrilled to work with an amazing group of local women through the Latinas Taking the Lead program. We can’t wait to see what they do next!” says Emma Eschenfeldt, GSNI Director of Community Programs.

GSNI will now be offering a Latinas Taking the Lead program in Elgin with sessions beginning on February 26 and running twice a month on Saturdays through May 7. For more information, reach out to us at 844-476-4463 or customercare@girlscoutsni.org.
