GSNI Appoints Dr. Kari Rockwell as New CEO

News

We’re excited to announce GSNI has appointed a new CEO—Dr. Kari Rockwell!

In her years as a Girl Scout, Dr. Rockwell developed strong friendships, learned leadership skills, fell in love with summer camp, and began a life of serving others. She embraced national and international travel, thanks to a visit to Boston with her troop. Dr. Rockwell is a proud mother to two daughters and tells us they are strong and independent young women who encouraged her to join GSNI. Dr. Rockwell will succeed our current CEO Fiona Cummings and assume responsibilities on August 1, 2022. Fiona has faithfully served as our CEO since 2013 and will retire on June 30, 2022.

Dr. Rockwell brings decades of educational leadership to her new position at GSNI. Formerly the Superintendent of Schools at Fieldcrest Community Unit School District #6 in Minonk, Illinois, she also previously held principal positions at The Kiefer School at Children’s Home Association of Illinois in Peoria, Illinois, and Cumberland County Schools in Crossville, Tennessee. Our CEO Search Committee was pleased to extend the CEO offer to Dr. Rockwell citing her proven abilities in providing an equitable experience to diverse populations and communities as we seek to be inclusive and welcoming of all. Dr. Rockwell also brings significant non-profit grant experience to GSNI having supported grant writing resulting in $5 million earned in the last 12 months alone.

Dr. Rockwell received an Ed.D in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands in 2017, a Master of Arts in Education/Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix in June 2009, a Master of Arts in Education/Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix in June 2008, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University at Long Beach in 2001. More recently, she received a WEEK Women in Leadership Award in 2021.

Welcome to GSNI, Dr. Rockwell!
