Appreciative Inquiry Action Teams Update – May 2021

News

After completing an Appreciative Inquiry process in 2021, GSNI developed five Action Teams to drive and support membership growth. These teams are led by staff members, with Board, volunteer, and older Girl Scout representation. Here’s what we’re working on currently!

The Communications and Brand Awareness Action Team is planning some more exciting episodes to our podcast, The Friendship Circle. We’re recording our podcast LIVE at the Annual Meeting on April 30 and will have lots to share from that event!

The Recruitment Processes Action Team finalized GSNI’s annual recruitment “phases”—going from five down to three to follow GSUSA’s recruitment campaigns of fall, winter, and spring. The team is also putting the finishing touches on a recruitment processes flow chart. This will help keep staff and volunteers on the same page for recruitment success in the future!

The Community Engagement Action Team is moving forward with engaging our faith community and focusing on gathering resources and building simple, easy processes for staff and volunteers to build and strengthen connections! We’re also starting to plan for next year and how we can be more visible at community meetings and events across all GSNI.

The Older Girl Scout Action Team BAND App subcommittee has met and is on track to start the pilot project with a group of older Girl Scouts. Fifth grade parent/leader Zoom calls were presented and well received! The Older Girl Scout Directory is in final stages and projected to be available soon. We will also be reaching out to all older Girl Scouts who responded to our recent poll! This will help us move forward with our plans for an older Girl Scout group that will learn and sharpen skills and have the opportunity to use those skills within GSNI!

The Hiring for Diversity Action Team met to review additional changes to job postings to better highlight GSNI’s desire to attract diverse candidates for open staff positions. The team also discussed how to make diversity, equity, and inclusion become ingrained in the organization’s culture through onboarding and ongoing training and development opportunities.

If you would like to learn more about the work of any Action Team, share your own feedback or input, or are interested in joining a team, please contact customercare@girlscoutsni.org with the subject line “Action Team” and specify which Action Team you’d like to learn more about!
