GSNI to Move to New Rockford Location!

News

We’re excited to announce we will be moving to a NEW Rockford location! Starting September 25, we will be leaving our current location at 2820 McFarland Road and moving to 1886 Daimler Road in Rockford (formerly GQ Sports and Collectibles). This move is part of GSNI’s strategy to be more visible in our communities and offer our volunteers and families increased convenience for their busy lives. This new location is very visible from Perryville and directly opposite CherryVale Mall.

We’ve recently opened new GSNI resource centers in South Elgin, Lake Zurich, and Freeport, in addition to our current Rock Falls and Sugar Grove locations, and are planning future centers in McHenry and Oswego, once our Sugar Grove Resource Center is sold. We’re eager to make this anticipated transition in the Rockford area!

There has been much confusion in the marketplace with many people thinking Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts have merged. In keeping our promise to girls to create safe, girl-only spaces where they are the first and only priority, this move helps us re-inforce GSNI as the premier leadership organization for girls since 1912 in a very public way. An opportunity to relocate presented itself, which allows us to move into our new location and start this new Girl Scout membership year in a place all our own!

Our new space will need renovations starting immediately. We’ll be upgrading this location with a brand new G.I.R.L. store, meeting rooms, space for GSNI staff, storage, and most importantly—a secure, friendly place where service units, troops, and girls can connect and engage face-to-face!

As a result, our current Rockford store will be open through September 25, closed on September 26, and reopen in our new location on October 3, so we’re encouraging local Girl Scouts to shop online and stay tuned for times when GSNI’s Mobile Store will be available at area locations. When we open our new Resource Center on October 3, it will be a work-in-progress for some time, to make a space that has the same look, feel, and function as our other new Resource Centers. We appreciate your flexibility (and pardon our dust!) as we make a place where girls, volunteers, and potential members will be inspired to visit!

We are grateful for the outstanding support we’ve received as we work to make Girl Scout opportunities more accessible to our communities! This move enables us to stand out as the proven, strongest leadership experience for girls locally, regionally, and sets us apart from any other organization!

Thank you for being a part of our Girl Scout family. We can’t wait to make our new location feel just like the Girl Scout home you deserve!

Stay up to date on the progress of our move on our social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
