There's still time to add some fun into your summer! Don't miss out on these exciting summer events!
Are you going indoor camping this summer? Join us for an Indoor Overnights Training Webinar. Required for all adults wanting to take their girls on an overnight with modern facilities. You will explore the progression needed to ready girls for an overnight trip, when girls are emotionally and physically ready to spend the night away from home. You will discuss planning the trip, paperwork, safety and activities for girls in the outdoors. Log-in details will be sent via email.
Get Making with Get Moving:
Makers like making things they're excited about— whether it's a craft, a piece of furniture, a robot, or a computer program. They like exploring new and different materials to
see what they can come up with and recycling old materials to give them a new life.
Being away from home can be hard for anyone. Why not help your camper feel special during camp this summer and send her a Pamper Your Camper Kit from GSNI? There are two types of kits available, a standard kit and one to send if your Girl Scout is celebrating a birthday while at camp.
We added an Outdoor Training this summer for those who may have missed the spring trainings. This training is required for all adults who are spending the night in an area without modern facilities. You will learn how to prepare a delicious, nutritious meal outdoors, safe dishwashing methods, review of fire building and safety and different types of cooking fires and methods. You’ll learn how to pitch a tent and put up mosquito netting, plus activities for camping, review of latrine care, and cleaning up with minimal impact to the environment. Participants are required to spend the night.
Swimming. Archery. Learning new things. Making new friends. Memories to last a lifetime. These are all things that make for a great summer and are all things that are offered to girls at GSNI Camps. We wanted to make sure you were aware of the registration deadlines for our camp sessions this summer. Take a look at this handy chart found in our 2014 Resident Camp Guide:

Moving at the “speed of girls,” Girl Scouts brings the camp experience into the twenty-first century! According to a new study by the Girl Scout Research Institute (GSRI), More Than S’mores (2014), girls benefit immensely from time spent outdoors. Girls who regularly spend time outdoors eclipse their peers who spend less time outdoors in environmental stewardship, more readily seek challenges, and are better problem solvers—all important traits in twenty-first century leadership.
Just a reminder that Girl Scout Express in Barrington will be closed May 24 -26, 2014. Also, all GSNI Service Centers will be closed in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, 2014. When we return, there will be changes to our operating hours that will be in effect through September 1, 2014.
Each year, we set aside time to recognize an amazing group of young women who have earned their Girl Scout Gold Award. What is the Girl Scout Gold Award, you ask? The highest Award in Girl Scouting, the Girl Scout Gold Award has had several names since its debut in 1916 as the Golden Eagle of Merit. It has also been known as the Golden Eaglet, Curved Bar, First Class, and the Girl Scout Gold Award. It marked the beginning of a long tradition of recognizing the outstanding achievements of extraordinary girls.
Help us celebrate GSNI’s Top Cookie Sellers at our Super Seller-bration event at Camp McCormick on May 31, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We are looking for volunteers to help with the following:
