GSNI Troop 5302 completed their Bronze Award with their Take Action Project: Friendship Inside Out! Keep the Chain Reaction Going. Troop Leader, Jenna Leverton, describes their project:

"Many of the girls in this troop have been a victim of bullying, so they decided to do something about it! They started with a chain of kindness at school. They made posters to put in every classroom. When someone witnessed a random act of kindness, they would take a slip of paper from the poster, write down what they saw and return it to the poster. The girls then collected the slips of paper weekly and made them into a chain link that was displayed in the school. Their peers really took to the idea and as of today there have been 742 random acts of kindness witnessed!

Girl safety is our top priority, especially when it comes to inclement weather at camp. During these recent storms, girls have been kept inside or moved to a lower level of a camp building, depending on the issued warnings. GSNI follows specific safety protocols designed to keep each camper and staff member safe and secure for the duration of the camping season. In the event of a severe storm, please remain calm if camp staff doesn't immediately answer or return phone calls, as their first responsibility is the safety of the girls. Staff will return phone calls or e-mails at the earliest possible opportunity.

Has your girl ever wondered what it would be like to be a Girl Scout? This is her chance to learn all about being a Girl Scout at the Girl Scout Experience, hosted by Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois. She’ll spend a fun and exciting day exploring new activities, participating in camp games, and making new friends! This event is open to all girls in kindergarten through fifth grade.
The Girl Scout Experience is June 26, from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Parents may drop off girls from 8:45–9:15 a.m. at Wheeler Park, 822 N. First Street, in Geneva. Advance registration is available for only $5, if received by June 19, 2013. Registration is $7 the day of the event. Girls should bring a sack lunch and water bottle. To ensure safety during activities, girls should not wear open-toe shoes. For more information or to register, contact Christina Kirsch at 630-897-1565, Ext. 7182, or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
The safety of our campers and volunteers takes priority over anything else and due to the likeliness of severe winds and intense storms and our lack of indoor/underground shelter the Aztec Twilight Camp at The Hollows in Cary, IL will be cancelled for this evening, Wednesday, June 12. Twilight Camp will resume tomorrow as scheduled.

Complete an official training like GSLE: Getting From Here to There, 3 Processes: One Powerful Program, or Take Action Projects 101. Options also include enrichment sessions featuring website and social media, and travel opportunities.

Network with other volunteers, share your experiences, discover new resources, and energize yourself for the new Girl Scout membership year!
