Express Yourself at Freeport Art Museum

on

What does a girl’s self-portrait say about her? What can her own art teach her about how she looks at herself? GSNI invites all local girls in grades 4–5 to participate in Express Yourself at the Freeport Art Museum, 121 N. Harlem, on Saturday, June 22, from 3–5 p.m. Studying famous self-portraits as a guide, girls will create their own self-portraits by using expressive color with oil pastels and words that describe each girl’s unique personality. This program is designed for girls interested in building self-esteem and learning about art.

Program fee is $15 per registered Girl Scout; $27 per non-registered Girl Scout and includes all art supplies and instruction. The additional $12 registers girls as Girl Scouts and allows them to participate in this program and many others throughout the year! About Preferred Partners

The Freeport Art Museum is one of GSNI’s Preferred Partners. GSNI often works with outside organizations to provide programming to local girls. When an organization chooses to partner with GSNI, they have visibility to over 23,000 girls and adults and thousands more parents across 16 counties in northern Illinois aligning with the largest organization for girls in the world!

There are three ways businesses and organizations partner with GSNI:

  • Preferred PartnerProgramming is associated specifically to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and offered only to Girl Scouts.
  • Community Service Opportunities—Projects or actions that benefit the community, giving girls a greater understanding of their local and global communities. Through community service, girls begin to understand issues in their community and work together toward improvement.
  • Community Offering—Events or activities that are open to the public, or provide a discount or special offer to Girl Scouts. These events enhance the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and support the Girl Scout mission.
