Congratulations to the winners of GSNI's 2014 Goal Getter Contest! Following Initial Sales, the Goal Getter Contest was offered to encourage girls to obtain more orders. A minimum of 20 orders from 20 different customers was required to enter the contest. These girls have won a Razor E100 Electric Scooter.
It can be easy to think about Girl Scouting as a local activity that girls participate in to learn leadership skills and improve the community around them. In fact, Girl Scouting can be all that AND show girls how they are connected to the global community.

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the Thin Mint Sprint (TMS) to be held on September 20, 2014 at Camp McCormick. In honor of this milestone, GSNI is planning to celebrate in a big way! GSNI is currently recruiting energetic volunteers to help with the activities and races—girls and adults!
Young Women of Distinction (YWD) is GSNI's special way to honor Girl Scouts who have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, along with girls selected to receive a Girl Scout Scholarship. The 2014 event will be Sunday, June 8, at Giovani's in Rockford.
Girl members interested in attending YWD have the opportunity to enter a lottery for free attendance! While all age levels are encouraged to enter the lottery, girls and troops who have completed and submitted their Girl Scout Bronze or Silver Award final report paperwork between April 16, 2013, and April 15, 2014, and Girl Scout Cadettes and Seniors will be given first priority. Please note all girls attending must be accompanied by a paying adult. Girl Scout Gold Award and scholarship recipients do not need to enter the lottery.

GSNI is excited to introduce the Bling Your Booth Contest for 2014! The theme for the contest is how Girl Scouts do a "World of Good" by incorporating any of the 5 Skills of the cookie program—goal setting, decision making, money management, business ethics, and people skills—into a community cookie booth! Troops may submit one entry per cookie booth location per troop.
We have been alerted that an online flyer is calling for a boycott of Girl Scout Cookies. It is based on a wealth of misinformation. First and foremost, the mission of Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. This is not a political mission. Girl Scouts of the USA and Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois will not tolerate special interest groups linking its name to any political issue in order to advance an agenda, nor will it tolerate individuals and organizations that misuse its name and/or brand. That said, we aim to supply our Girl Scout family with all information and materials necessary to deliver the truth to our supporters.
In light of multiple articles alleging Girl Scouts has ties to certain organizations, here are some key facts to consider.
National Girl Scout Weekend (NGSCW) is February 7–8, 2014! This is a great opportunity for troops to promote their upcoming booth sales by distributing the NGSCW Cookie Season flier or by asking to post the fliers in local businesses. It’s easy! Just download the Cookie Season flier from GSNI’s website and fill in your cookie booth information.
GSNI's new service center and council store is now open, at 229 First Avenue in Rock Falls! The Rock Falls Service Center is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. GSNI will host an official Ribbon Cutting on Friday, February 7, from 4–6 p.m., and a family-style open house on Saturday, February 8, from 12 Noon–4 p.m. All GSNI members are invited to attend! The open house will include a jewelry-making craft for girls, information on camp and upcoming local programs, as well as the opportunity for girls to register as Girl Scouts! The council store will be open and a local Girl Scout troop will be selling cookies to the public. For more information, contact the Rock Falls Service Center at 815-997-5100.
Every three years, Girl Scouts gather together at the National Council Session and Convention to reinvigorate the Girl Scout Movement, celebrate accomplishments, and chart the future. The 2014 National Council Session/53rd Convention will be held October 16–19, 2014, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
GSNI is seeking candidates for the position of 2014-2017 National Council Delegate to represent GSNI at the National Council Session. Applicants must be Girl Scout adults or girl members at least 14 years of age or older.
