100th Anniversary Girl Scout Promise Circle

Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois and Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana are sharing this Anniversary Celebration idea.

With our 100th Anniversary approaching fast, we have a powerful opportunity to connect with Girl Scouts of ALL ages in our communities—Promise Circles to be hosted at 19:12 military time (7:12 P.M.) on Monday, March 12, 2012.

These moving celebrations will be a time to remind Girl Scouts—young and young at heart—of the ongoing strength of Juliette Gordon Low’s dream to empower girls everywhere. As we join hands with today’s Daisies and yesterday’s Mariners, we’re reminded of the great sisterhood that each of us are, and always will be, included.

Connect with fellow Girl Scouts and your community by holding a Promise Circle on March 12. See how you can host your own event with more information and supporting materials on our website.

Parents: Recognize your Girl Scout’s Leader!

As a parent of a current Girl Scout you may understand the vital role volunteers play in her life. Recognizing volunteers is an excellent way to show how much you appreciate them and the time they give to serve the community’s youth. Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois organizes an annual recognition event each spring to award volunteers for their dedication. Volunteers can earn the following awards (Appreciation Pin, Honor Pin, Thanks Badge, Thanks Badge II, and President’s Award). Details about each award can be found at www.girlscoutsni.org/recognition.html.

If you know a volunteer who is worthy of one of these awards, please fill out the nomination form found at the link above. The nomination period ends February 15, 2012, at 11:59 P.M. So please don’t wait to recognize a volunteer in your child’s life! This year’s volunteer recognition ceremony will be held March 31, 2012.

2012 COOKIE PROGRAM

Our cookie deliveries are right around the corner (Freeport 2/9-2/13, Rockford 2/14-2/17, and Elgin/Sugar Grove 2/13-2/18).

Our customers are as anxious for their cookies to arrive as we are. When your troop has picked up cookies orders, get them to your customers as quickly as you can. That’s giving great customer service while putting “People Skills” into action! And once cookies are delivered they disappear very quickly creating a desire for more cookies. This is a great time to use up any surplus on hand and direct a customer’s attention to the upcoming Cookie Booths beginning February 24. If you haven’t already signed up for a Cookie Booth now is a great time. We have plenty of available slots under Council Sales and of course you still have the opportunity to secure your own booth site and put it into eBudde. Our Service Center Cupboards will be open soon making more cookies available to troops all the way through March 18, 2012.
