Thinking Day

WHAT IS IT?
Each year on February 22, World Thinking Day, girls participate in activities and projects with global themes to honor their sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries. World Thinking Day not only gives girls a chance to celebrate international friendships, but is also a reminder that Girl Scouts of the USA is part of a global community.

The theme for World Thinking Day 2012 is girls worldwide say "we can save our planet."

Girl Scout Scholarships Offered

In 2012, Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois will once again be offering three types of scholarships to Girl Scouts graduating from high school:

  • Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarship (two)
  • Performing Arts Scholarship (one)
  • Girl Scout Ambassador Scholarships (up to eight)

Complete information on these scholarships, including the scholarship descriptions and application forms, can be found on GSNI’s website (www.girlscoutsni.org) after February 1, 2012.

For Girl Scout Volunteers

GIRLS GO TECHBRIDGE PROGRAMS-IN-A-BOX ADULT TRAINING

Discover how to deliver the Girls Go TECHbridge Programs-In-A-Box. Learn how to guide girls as they explore the wonderful world of engineering through hands-on projects and career exploration activities. We will complete the soldering activity in the "Power It Up," review the evaluation processes, and review the "Make It Green," "Design Time," "Engineers to the Rescue!" and "ThrillBuilders" leader guides. The Girls Go TECHbridge program is designed for girls in grades 4-12. This training will enable you to check out all of the boxes for your troop, service unit event or camp use!

When:Tuesday, February 28, 2012, 6–9 p.m.
Where: Rockford Service Center, 2820 McFarland Road, Rockford
Cost: $5/adult – includes all materials and Girls Go TECHbridge manual
Register online by February 21, 2012.

2012 COOKIE PROGRAM

Remember the last day for the order taking period of cookie sales is January 22, 2012. If you are considering ordering cookies for your Cookie Booth on your initial order please remember 80% of the money will be due on the first sweep date. As an alternative, we suggest ordering your cookies from a Cookie Cupboard in your area in February, after cookies have been delivered.
