Girl Scout Gold Award
The Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting recognizes the leadership, effort and impact Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors have on their communities. Only about five percent of eligible girls earn this prestigious award.
The roots of the Girl Scout Gold Award are in the history of the organization, whose tradition of the highest leadership awards for Girl Scouts has included The Gold Eaglet of Merit (1916-1919), The Golden Eagle (1919-1939), First Class (1932-1982), The Curved Bar (1940-1980) and finally the Girl Scout Gold Award.
STEPS TO EARN YOUR GIRL SCOUT GOLD AWARD
Fulfilling the requirements for the Girl Scout Gold Award starts with the completion of two Senior or Ambassador Journeys or having earned the Silver Award and completing one Senior or Ambassador Journey. Girls can choose from the following Journeys:

- Choose an issue: Use your values and skills to identify a community issue you care about.
- Investigate: Research everything you can about the issue.
- Get Help: Invite others to support and take action with you.
- Create a Plan: Create a progect plan that achieves sustainable and measurable impact.
- Present your Plan and Get Feedback: Sum up your project plan and present it to Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois for approval.
- Take Action: Take the lead to carry out your plan.
- Educate and Inspire: Share what you have experienced with others.
