GSNI Events & Activities List

Welcome to our new gsEvents registration system. This system is the easy, convenient way to register your girl(s), troop or group for any and all Girl Scout council-sponsored events, activities, and programs.

Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois has transitioned to a new registration system called gsEvents which is linked to your MyGS account.

Here is a quick start guide on how to register using gsEvents.

Information to Start Your Adventures:

Chaperone Expectations For GSNI Events toggle arrow

Adults must register for any event they will attend, whether or not an adult fee is charged. Fees are listed with the event description.

  • Registration for events is open for both troops/groups and individuals.
  • If a Girl Scout register as an individual, that child MUST be accompanied by an adult.
  • Troops registering as a group must meet proper girl/adult ratios. See Chapter 4 of Volunteer Essentials.

Adults accompanying participants may be responsible for:

  • Assisting with program activities as requested by program facilitator.
  • Administering any necessary disciplinary actions when behavior is disruptive. If behavior continues to be disruptive, the event facilitator may alert chaperones to handle the situation appropriately.

GSNI is backed by dedicated adults, mentors, and child advocates who put safety first. Volunteers who facilitate and chaperone our programs are fully background-checked. We also welcome family members and trusted adults to our programs. Each participant must follow all GSNI safety guidelines. We support and appreciate everyone who makes our programs safe, fun and inclusive for every Girl Scout.

Certificates of Insurance of Venues and Activities toggle arrow

Certificates of Insurance of Venues and Activities

When planning an event, there may be times where we need to obtain a Certificate of Insurance and have it on file 2 weeks prior to when your event is scheduled.

Please consult Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois’ Safety Activity Checkpoints to determine if the facility offering the activity your troop would like to do requires GSNI to have a copy of the facility’s Certificate of Insurance on file. Please consult our current Certificates of Insurance List to check if we already have a Certificate of Insurance on file for the organization you will be working with.

If the facility your troop is planning to use is listed, then you only need to complete the necessary GSNI Permission Slips, the facility’s waiver (if applicable), and the GSNI Troop Trip & Overnight Approval Form (if your field trip is further than 60 miles from your normal meeting space or any overnight event).

If the facility is not listed, the troop leader needs to request a Certificate of Insurance from the facility. To do this, simply call the facility and ask for a current Certificate of Insurance with GSNI listed as a Certificate Holder, including the information below:

Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois
1886 Daimler Road
Rockford, IL 61112

The certificate can be emailed to customercare@girlscoutsni.org with “Certificate of Insurance” in the subject line, or U.S. mailed to the above address, or faxed to 847-741-5667.

If a facility is requesting a copy of Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois’ Certificate of Insurance, please use the following form. To minimize delays in the process, please complete the form with as much information as possible about the facility requesting a Certificate of Insurance.

After this form is submitted, please allow 2-3 weeks for processing.

Registration, Confirmation, and Refunds for Activities toggle arrow

Registration

If you have difficulty registering contact our Customer Care Team for assistance: customercare@girlscoutsni.org or 1-844-GSNI-4-ME.

We're excited to introduce gsEvents, our new online registration system designed to streamline the process of signing up for Girl Scout council-sponsored events, activities, and programs. Accessible through your MYGS account, gsEvents allows both individual Girl Scouts and troops to register and pay for events with ease. Whether you're interested in earning badges, embarking on outdoor adventures, or attending trainings, gsEvents provides a convenient platform to explore and secure your spot in upcoming events.

To get started, simply log in to your MYGS account, browse the event calendar, and register for the activities that inspire you. You can also scroll down to our Activities Calendar below and select the event title to be directed to MYGS.

Here is a quick start guide to help you register for any event through gsEvents.

Confirmations

A registration confirmation will be provided with a receipt. General information about the event or program may be included in confirmation receipt.

An event-specific confirmation letter will be emailed to all participants shortly after the closing registration date. Confirmation emails will be sent. If you have not received a confirmation three to five days prior to the event, please contact Customer Care at 1-844-GSNI-4-Me or customercare@girlscoutsni.org.

Event Cancellations and Refunds:

  • If an event does not meet the minimum registration by the deadline date, GSNI reserves the right to cancel the event. Participants will be notified via email.
    • A full refund of the fee (including deposit) is made ONLY if a participant can’t be placed in the event of their choice if it is necessary for GSNI to cancel the event.
  • • A partial refund, cost of the event minus a $5 per person processing fee or 1/2 the event fee for events costing less than $10, will be given when self-cancelling before the registration end date. After the registration deadline has passed, no refunds will be issued.  No refunds will be given after the event registration deadline.
  • If a Girl Scout membership registration fee was paid ($65), it is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • GSNI Summer Camp programs follows different cancellation/refund guidelines. For more information on summer camp programming refunds, please see our Summer Camp Webpage.
Safety Activity Checkpoints toggle arrow

How to Use Safety Activity Checkpoints

Below you will find the individual Safety Activity Checkpoints for Girl Scouts of the USA and Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois Council’s approved activities. As soon as your troop/group begins planning a particular trip or activity, you should always review:

  • the Introduction: Standard Safety Guidelines section, which provides the standard safety guidelines that apply to all Girl Scout activities, and
  • the related individual activity’s safety activity checkpoints (e.g., Swimming, Backpacking, Camping)

Volunteers and troop co-leaders should then continue to refer to both the Introduction: Standard Safety Guidelines and the individual activity’s Safety Activity Checkpoints throughout the entire activity planning process to ensure all proper precautions have been taken and all safety guidelines have been met before participating in the activity.

As part of your activity planning, be sure to pay particular attention to the following areas:

  • When the adult-to-girl ratio, or other safety parameters are stricter for a specific activity than in the Introduction: Standard Safety Guidelines always follow the stricter parameters given in the individual activity’s Safety Activity Checkpoints.
  • Infectious Disease Guidelines. Review the Infectious Disease Safety for Girl Scouts section under the Introduction: Standard Safety Guidelines.
  • Emergency Action Plan (EAP). Review and document your EAP before taking girls out for any activity and review it with the girls so they too are prepared. Think through scenarios of what can go wrong such as an accident, physical injury to a girl, missing girl, sudden illness, or sudden weather or water emergencies.

When in doubt, contact your Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois Council for help and guidance in adhering to the safety standards set forth in Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints: customercare@girlscoutsni.org.
