Thin Mint Sprint Volunteer Opportunities

 

Samoa Fun Fest Volunteer Opportunities
The Samoa Fun Fest is open to the public from 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and can choose shifts from 10 a.m.–12 Noon or 12 Noon–2 p.m. Volunteer opportunities include assisting with:

  • Corn Maze
  • Stomp Rockets
  • Tie Dye
  • Travel
  • Face Painting
  • Bubble Making
  • Letterboxing 
  • Loop the Hoop Game
  • Healthy Habits Promise Board
  • *Troop Activity Tables

GSNI staff will provide all instructions and materials a couple of weeks before the fun fest, so volunteers will know what is needed and have all the materials for their booth.

Parking Attendants
There are three, two-hour shifts, starting at 6:15 a.m., 8 a.m., and 10 a.m. to assist participants and other volunteers in properly parking in the assigned parking area at Friendship Center. Meet at the entrance to Friendship Center for instructions.

 

Registration/Check-In Volunteers
Please arrive by 6:15 a.m. to assist participants in checking-in for the event. Meet inside Friendship Center for instructions. There is scheduled down time from 6:30–8 a.m. as most participants will be participating the 9 a.m. event, but we ask that you arrive at 6:15 a.m., so we can be prepared for all check-ins.

 

Trail Run & 2 Mile Water Station Attendant
Please arrive at 6:45 a.m. for 7 a.m. transport to your assigned station. You will assist in filling water cups, handing water to participants, picking up discarded water cups, and cheering on participants. Meet at Friendship Center to receive further instructions. You may want to bring a lawn chair.

 

8K Water Station Attendant
Please arrive at 8 a.m. for 8:15 a.m. transport to your assigned station. You will assist in filling water cups, handing water to participants, picking up discarded water cups, and cheering on participants. Meet at Friendship Center to receive further instructions. You may want to bring a lawn chair.

 

Trail Run Course Marshals
Please arrive at 6:45 a.m. for 7 a.m. transport to assigned station. You will assist participants in staying on the course throughout the event. Meet at Friendship Center to receive further instructions. Once all participants have passed your station, a ranger will assist you in moving to the next course and performing the same assistance for that event. You may want to bring a lawn chair.

 

8K & 2 Mile Course Marshals
Please arrive at 8 a.m. for 8:15 a.m. transport to assigned station. You will assist participants in staying on the course throughout the event. Please meet at Friendship Center to receive further instructions. You may want to bring a lawn chair.

 

8K Timers
Please arrive by 8 a.m. for 8:15 a.m. transport to your assigned station. Timers are located exactly at every mile on the 8K course. You will be provided with a stopwatch. Your job is to read and call out the times of the runners and walkers as they pass you. You need to speak loudly and enthusiastically. You may want to bring a lawn chair.

 

2 Mile Timer
Please arrive by 8 a.m. for 8:15 a.m. transport to your assigned station. A timer is located at the one-mile spot on the two-mile course. You will be provided with a stopwatch. Your job is to read and call out the times of the runners/walkers as they pass you. You need to speak loudly and enthusiastically. You may want to bring a lawn chair.

 

Finish Line Workers
Please arrive at 6:30 a.m. You will assist in the finish line process, including set-up, relaying information to scorers, and takedown.

 

Cheerleaders
Please arrive at 7 a.m. You will be lining up by the finish line and cheering the runners as they get close to finishing their event.

 

Transport Volunteers
Please arrive at 6:30 a.m. to help transport volunteers out to the course.

 

Lead Bike
Please arrive at 6:30 a.m. Your job will be to lead racers out on the course.

 

Marathon Patch Volunteers
Please arrive by 7 a.m. to distribute marathon patches as participants check-in for the event. Meet inside Friendship Center for instructions.

 

Swag Table Volunteers
Please arrive by 7 a.m. to distribute fun giveaways as participants check-in for the event. Meet inside Friendship Center for instructions.
