Inspire Girls! Attend Young Women of Distinction

on

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. Girls who have earned the award showcase the absolute best Girl Scouting has to offer. What better way to inspire the young leaders of tomorrow than by taking your Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, or Senior to GSNI’s 2014 Young Women of Distinction (YWD) event? Daisies and Brownies will be in awe, spending time with these amazing girls and seeing what they’ve accomplished. Juniors, Cadettes, and Seniors will gather helpful insights and ideas for their future Gold Award projects and mingle with girls who have already blazed the trail before them!

The 2014 YWD banquet will be Sunday, June 8, at Giovanni’s restaurant, 610 North Bell School Road, in Rockford. We will be honoring 20 Gold Award recipients, multiple GSNI scholarship recipients, girls who have earned the Girl Scout Bronze and Silver Awards, a Life Saving Award recipient, and the Prudential Spirit of Community Award recipient.

Girl members who are interested in attending YWD have the opportunity to enter a lottery for free attendance! While all age levels are encouraged to enter the lottery, girls and troops who have completed and submitted their Girl Scout Bronze or Silver Award final report paperwork between April 16, 2013, and April 15, 2014, and Girl Scout Cadettes and Seniors will be given first priority. Please note all girls attending must be accompanied by a paying adult. Girl Scout Gold Award and scholarship recipients do not need to enter the lottery.

If you know a Girl Scout interested in participating, please email Emily at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , with “YWD Lottery” in the subject line, prior to April 25. Be sure to include the entrant’s troop number or indicate if she is an individually registered member. Please also include whether or not the participant has earned her Girl Scout Bronze or Silver Award since April 16, 2013, and list the entrant’s name, grade level, and the name of her accompanying adult. More than one girl can be entered per email, but the same information will be required regarding each girl entered.
