Brownie Troop 559 Needs Your Help

Troop #559 is working on their World of Girls Take Action Project and asks for your help to support local organization WINGS.

The WINGS organization helps abused women and children by offering shelter, education guidance and support. They provide safe, secure living environments in residential neighborhoods through transitional housing and emergency shelter, which allow the women to go to school, work and achieve financial and emotional independence. WINGS is in the process of building a second shelter. WINGS is a 501(c)(3) publicly supported organization and serves people of all backgrounds and ages.

Brownie Troop 559, which meets at Country Trails Elementary School in the Burlington 301 School District, has been taking “A World of Girls” Leadership Journey this year. Their meetings and activities have focused on how girls can make the world a better place. After being presented with several charitable organizations, the girls voted to help WINGS because of the direct impact their efforts have on children.

Can you imagine how it would be if you had to flee your home because of a direct threat to your physical and emotional safety? Can you imagine how a child would feel? When women and children arrive at a WINGS shelter, often they arrive with only the clothes on their backs.

TROOP 559 is conducting a Craft-Toy-Book Drive in order to make activity kits for children at the original shelter and fill the recreational/play area at the new shelter.
